While I was busy with other things, it looks like OpenFOAM has advanced quite a bit. Their latest version (2.1) was released at the end of 2011, and includes substantial improvements. I'm downloading it now (using their apt repository for the first time) and hope to try it out soon. Looks like an update to my OpenFOAM review is in order.

Mar 24, Trying something new

If you've written me in the past year or so via the "Contact Me" form, you probably did not get a timely response. The web site traffic was increasing at the same time that my regular workload was piling up as well, and that meant that I couldn't keep up. So what to do?

My partial solution is to set up a questions and answers section of the web site. The idea is to post my answers to the questions on the web site itself and, I hope, provide useful information to visitors and grow the site at the same time.

At the same time I've created a new way to contact me specifically for those who are interested in working with my company ("Consulting Inquiry" in the nav bar). That way, I can give higher priority to these messages but still address a good portion of readers' questions and suggestions over time.

As always, a new year is coming, and that means it's time for aerospace professionals from around the world to gather at another Aerospace Sciences Meeting. For 2012, it's in Nashville.

If you've never been, it's a great event for networking and seeing what is happening in aerospace research, not just in the United States, but around the world. There's a lot of job hunting that happens there too (take note, all of you who have been asking me about jobs).

I'll be there (again) for most of the conference. Maybe I'll see some of you there, too.

I do try to answer most all the correspondence I get from the site, though that can get pretty far behind, too.

With a little luck, I'll be able to catch up over the Christmas break and maybe have some new pages for the New Year.

So thanks for visiting, and keep checking back...I'll have something new eventually.
